MOSCAT Conducts Search for Mr. and Ms. Ecotourism 2011

Misamis Oriental News Updates – The Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology (MOSCAT) has presented the candidates of the Search for Mr. and Ms. MOSCAT Ecotourism 2011, last Sept. 8.

Vice-Mayor of Claveria, Alfred A. Azcuna, showed his support to MOSCAT by his presence and promised to help in its programs and activities for he believed that the success of MOSCAT is, likewise, the success of Claveria as a whole, he said.

“The search was made to develop self confidence for the students and promote MOSCAT, especially, for those who do not know about the school,” Dr. Elizar Elmundo, Ph., Vice President for Academic Affairs, said in his words of welcome.

About 18 candidates, nine (9) males and females, each, representing from the different institutes of the college joined the search.

Wearing colorful and sophisticated attire the candidates showcased their prowess and intelligence during the press conference and preliminary interview.

The press conference centered on the theme “A Unified MOSCAT: Soaring Greater Heights at 28” and the promotion of the college to become an ecotourism destination, considering that MOSCAT is known for its paradise-like environment which made it unique among other colleges nearby.

The board of judges from the media has a hard time evaluating the candidates for all of them answered the questions comprehensively.

Declared top three (3) Mr. Darling of the press were Johan Sale, from the Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS), Jercelo P. Molato, from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IEDT) and Mr. Jun Atlao, from the Institute of Education (IE).

For Ms. Darling of the press, the top three (3) were Aubrey Asilum, from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Jackie Lou Calam, from the Institute of Business and Enterprise Management (IBEM) and Nova Paderanga, from the Institute of Business and Enterprise Management (IBEM).

Meanwhile, Dr. Alma L Cosadio, Dean of the Institute of Agriculture, the sponsor institute for this year’s pageant, expressed her gratitude to the participants, to the organizers, sponsors, and to the board of judges for their effort in making the activity a successful one.

The college is celebrating its 28th founding anniversary, this year. MOSCAT is a state agricultural college situated in the uplands of Claveria, which is about an hour’s ride from Cagayan de Oro City, seat of the Northern Mindanao regional government.
